Property Accessibility Statement

Our Natchez Bed & Breakfast Association members strive to provide comfortable lodging accommodations to our guests. This does include guests with limited accessibility. However, our member properties represent historic homes dating back to the city’s early founding by the French in 1716. Accordingly, while most of these properties do not fully satisfy ADA Accessibility Standards, they do satisfy one or both of the two types of allowed exceptions.

Our association member properties are located in Natchez, MS, which consists of 8 contiguous historic districts listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places listed from 1972 to 1999 as discussed here. As such our member properties are listed on the National Register of Historic Places under the National Historic Preservation Act (16 U.S.C. 470 et seq.) or are designated as historic under State or local law (§ 36.405 Alterations: Historic preservation.).

Over 75% of our association member properties offer guest accommodations of 5 rooms or less. Accordingly, these properties are not likely to offer any handicap accessible accommodations since the establishment is located within a facility that contains not more than five rooms for rent or hire and that is occupied by the proprietor of the establishment as the residence of the proprietor. (5 U.S.C. 301; 28 U.S.C. 509, 510; 42 U.S.C. 12186(b). § 36.104 Definitions).

Website Accessibility Statement

The Natchez Bed & Breakfast Association is committed to making our website accessible to people with disabilities.

We have designed our website to be accessible for impaired users to see, navigate, interact and understand the content provided as per the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA (WCAG 2.0 AA).

We have tested the functionality of this website with the achecker.ca tool and the Google Chrome Accessibility Audit tool. We have also tested keyboard only functionality so that people who use screen readers or can’t use a mouse are able to navigate through the website pages efficiently.

We will continue to make every effort to meet evolving accessibility standards.
